Born from horses. Shaped by research.
An Australian family business combining generations of equine experience with an unexpected understanding of how living things respond to light.
Our storyHorses have been at the centre of our lives for generations.
CoatSheda is a proudly Australian, family-owned business with deep roots in the equine world. From riding and training to breeding and care, horses have always been part of our family.
Alongside our life with horses, we have also worked in horticulture, specialising in photoperiod cultivars: plants that respond to changes in daylight.
It was the combination of those two worlds that changed everything.
One idea. Three chapters.
Explore the connection that took CoatSheda from family experience to equine light technology.
Horses have always been part of the family.
CoatSheda is a proudly Australian, family-owned business with deep roots in the equine world. For generations, horses have been at the centre of our lives, from riding and training to breeding and everyday care.
The research became something you could actually install and use.
What started as a question about light and seasonal coat change became the CoatSheda Light, a practical lighting system developed specifically for horses.
Every part of the product was shaped around real stable use, not just theory. The goal was simple: create a light that felt effective, reliable and straightforward for horse owners to use.
That thinking now continues across the broader CoatSheda range.
To make better horse care simpler, practical and grounded in research.
CoatSheda exists to bridge science with everyday equine care. We want the technology to feel straightforward to use, considered for the horse and genuinely useful for the people caring for them.
From research to a light built specifically for horses.
Research into blue-spectrum lighting led to the creation of the CoatSheda Light, a practical system developed to mimic the daylight cues associated with summer and support seasonal coat management.
